Solution description
Students with special needs and foreign students face a problem of comprehension of speech in Turkish during live online courses. Our solution is to develop a system with speech recognition technology which generates simultaneous subtitles during a live online course. This system has two parts. First part is SR System for the live online course record. Second part is display of a speech as a subtitle on the course video.
Success will be measured by the ratio of the output of the voice recognition system to the correct match with the actual speech. Our challenge owner is Anadolu University Open Education System. The system we plan to develop will provide the students, who are enrolled open education system and having difficulty hearing or understanding the speech during an online course, to understand the speech of the educator better.

Solution target group
Foreign students who have difficulty in understanding Turkish speech and who have hearing loss.
Those students will be able to understand the course content better by the help of the system. Also, the system will provide them to focus on the content easier and to increase their course performance.
In addition, Anadolu University Open Education System will increase reputation and gain opportunity to apply social responsibility projects.

There is no Speech Recognition (SR) solution for Learning Managemt Systems (LMS). Combining SR technology with LMS is an brand new application and a very innovative solution for Open Education System.
